More Local Children Potential Victims of Sexual Assault

Acting on a tip from a Coldwater Police Officer we FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requested documents on Jared Springer. We just received the response from the Coldwater Police Department and their response is very concerning. (see attached)

Coldwater refused to provide the requested records on Jared Springer citing that he is an “uncharged suspect.” Under the Ohio Revised Code, an uncharged suspect means the person is currently under investigation. What makes this even more troubling is that on our Facebook page an incoming tip references Springer and his activity with a babysitting provider group. (see attached)

We are not here to damage the Springer family. However, Mercer County has a responsibility to protect the children. This is made worse by the documents that were provided by The Sheriff’s Office verifying 6 complaints dealing with underage children and a series of emails showing that Prosecutors office and Sheriff Office did not know how to handle Springer since he was a “conflict” because he was so connected with the inner circles within the county.

Now we find out, two years later, that there are serious “concerns” still being raised about Mr. Springer. The fault in this mess lies with the officials of Mercer County. People in the community of Coldwater deserved to know about this so they could take the proper steps to protect their children. Again, we find another incident where the “selective” nature of prosecution by the Mercer County legal system has failed the children.

We have previously talked about our “What About the Children?” awareness campaign. We are having far too many complaints about the mishandling of sexual misconduct. We will be doing periodic articles/stories of individuals and families who have been failed by the leadership in Mercer County. These stories will be called “VOICES TO BE HEARD,” and we invite any residents of Mercer County who were victims of sexual abuse that was covered up by the county to contact us. We have a brave woman who has offered to be the first story with a heart-wrenching account of abuse that was sadly swept under the rug.
