More Damning Video Evidence Shows Another School Official Knew About Child Sexual Abuse But Failed to Act for 2 Years

In the video below Dennis Wendel, Athletic Director at St. Henry, tells Mercer County Sheriff Detective that for over two years he was aware of the suspicious relationship between Chris Summers and a student. We do not condone what Mr. Summers did. Rather we are outraged at how the school leadership failed to protect the student victim in this case.

The problem for Mr. Wendel is that under Ohio law 2151.421 educators are required to be mandatory reporters of child abuse even if it is just a suspicion. In the video Mr. Wendel tells of the many suspicions he had that Mr. Summers was having sex with a student!

We would like to know why Matt Fox is not prosecuting Mr. Wendel, and the other school officials, for their failure to uphold Ohio law 2151.421. The student had to suffer sexual abuse for potentially years longer than was necessary had Ohio law been followed.

We are filing a complaint with Ohio Department of Education and hoping, for the sake of all the children in Ohio schools, that they take appropriate action and make it clear that Ohio law 2151.421 is not a suggestion. It is mandatory and crucial part of keeping children safe from sexual predators lurking in our schools. An example must be made, so this type of laps by school officials does not happen again!
